Before the season begins

Use dry wood
Damp wood produces smoke, soils the glass and the flue, and heats less. Use seasoned wood, stored away from the elements and well ventilated.
Top-down lighting: less smoke
- Place the largest logs at the bottom, then the smaller ones, and the thin sticks on top.
- Place one or two firelighters on top, such as the Diavolina Fuoco Naturale cubes or the Cifo firestarter tablets.
- Light it: the flame slowly descends and burns off the smoke, with less soot.
Never use alcohol, gasoline, or non-specific flammable liquids. For the barbecue use dedicated products such as Accendigrill Liquid - Diavolina 1 L or Biogel Firelighter - Cifo 750 ml, only before lighting and never on already lit embers.
Always clean glass
When the stove is cold, the Stove and Chimney Glass Cleaner - Cifo 1 L dissolves soot without scratching the glass.

- Install a carbon monoxide detector near stoves and chimneys.
