Which fertilizer for potted plants? Quick guide for every plant

Pianta in vaso in giardino

In a pot, the soil quickly loses its nutrients: plants depend entirely on what you give them. Choosing the right fertilizer makes the difference between a plant that survives and one that flourishes.

Liquid, granular or slow-release?

  • Liquid: diluted in the irrigation water, it acts immediately. Ideal for flowering plants and those in full growth.
  • Granular or slow-release tablets: you apply it once and it feeds the plants for weeks or months, such as Osmocote fertilizer for potted plants - KB 110 g. Perfect if you don't want to worry about it.

The right fertilizer for every plant

Yellow leaves with green veins?

It is iron chlorosis, common in acid-loving plants and citrus trees irrigated with hard water: Chelated iron - KB 100 g or Iron chelate - Cifo 100 g will correct it.

In autumn and winter

Most plants slow down their growth: reduce or suspend fertilization and resume in spring. The exception is plants that bloom in winter, such as many orchids.

Golden rules

  • Fertilize on already moist soil, never on a thirsty plant.
  • Light and regular doses are better than a strong dose.
  • Always respect the doses on the label.
