Maciste - Bottos 1 kg
Advanced seeds for a hardy ornamental lawn resistant to foot traffic and drought
Bottos Maciste seeds create a beautiful lawn resistant to foot traffic with a medium texture, ideal for mild or hot areas with significant problems from high summer temperatures and drought risk. Maciste seeds perform very well even in the shade (with up to 50% less direct light) and are therefore suitable even under coniferous shade.
Thanks to the new cultivars used, particularly perennial ryegrass, Maciste is extremely fast in the initial establishment phase, immediately filling empty spaces and leaving no room for potential weeds. The seeds consist of highly resistant varieties with a bright green color even in the cold season. At full maturity, the lawn appears dense and uniform, with strong resistance to summer fungal diseases. Excellent for creating recreational, ornamental, and utility turf areas.
Using old seeds is a serious mistake that can completely compromise the success of the lawn. Old seeds germinate poorly and unevenly and it will be very difficult to get the lawn to cover the ground without leaving easy space for invasive weeds. Bestprato guarantees that its seeds are fresh, in fact, thanks to the close collaboration with Bottos, we are the only shop able to guarantee that the seeds are always the most recent production available.

Usage tips
| Sowing and Dosage | Germination can take 4 to 10 days, depending directly on the soil temperature (a soil temperature above 8°C is required). The dosage is 40-50 g/m²; maximum doses are recommended in case of high temperatures and/or imperfect preparation of the seedbed. It is recommended to use lawn topsoil. For regeneration, increase the dosage to 55 g/m² |
| Mowing | Perform the first cut when the grass reaches 8-10 cm. During annual maintenance in shaded areas, do not mow below 6 cm, while in mixed sun/shade areas, maintain a height of 4 cm. Never remove more than 30% of the existing vegetation. If a lawn with a finer texture is desired, the cut can be reduced to 35 mm, while above 45 mm the blades remain larger. Under pine shade, do not mow below a height of 60 mm. |
| Irrigation | During sowing and reseeding, keep the soil consistently moist until complete germination. For mature lawns, during the summer period, irrigate with 10 mm of water every 2-3 days. Be careful with water management; do not overdo the quantities and frequencies of distribution during the hottest periods so as not to encourage the onset of potential seasonal diseases. In case of pine shade, double the watering times during the hottest periods. |
| Nutrition |
Apply phosphate fertilizer at sowing and then manage the mature turf with 20 units of Nitrogen per m² per year, choosing fertilizers specifically designed for turf areas, preferably controlled-release. Schedule 4 annual fertilizations.. Also schedule 2 to 4 biostimulant treatments to increase tolerance to foot traffic and heat.
